A new boiler can enhance your gas heating system
Central heating is the best way to keep your home warm during winters. And for keeping your home cosy and warm, you need a good, safe and reliable central heating system, not one that breaks down when the first freeze appears.
Most heating systems compromise of a gas boiler; central heating radiator and pipework, there are basically two different sorts of gas central heating systems, one being a pumped system and the other being a vented system.
Pumped systems are probably the more common ones and their main part is a feed expansion tank which acts as the centre core by heating up itself first to subsequently warm up the heaters via the pipe work. Provision is made for water to be filled in the expansion tank tank as well as for expansion of the heated water.
The second type of heater is composed of a sealed system without a central component that is part of the radiator. Water tanks are not required here because it is a closed system. The main pluses of this system is that problems such as leaking and airlocks are minimised and, particularly for those who live in colder climates, pipes will not freeze.
Do I really need a central heating system to heat my home?.
The primary benefit of gas central heating is that the entire home or office is warmed up rapidly, and that too, without adversely affecting the air around you. Conventional heaters like gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters are also quite effective. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant odour.
Such problems never occur with gas central heating but they require regular maintenance to ensure their peak performance. Most people turn off their heating systems during summers and switch them on only during wintertimes, this should be totally avoided as the system could suddenly develop a problem as winter appears. Instead it is recommended that you gradually bring them into use during autumn so that if you spot any problem you can quickly contact an engineer.
Airborne dust and other contaminants can also seep into the gas central heating system, necessitating periodic drainage and cleansing. For draining the system just open the valve and keep a bucket below it for water collection, ensure that water doesn’t enter the system when it is being drained.
